Lailea Noel, PhD, MSW

Lailea Noel, PhD, MSW, is an assistant professor at Steve Hick’s School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. She also has a collaborative appointment with the UT Dell Medical School’s Livestrong Cancer Institutes. In an effort to achieve health equity in cancer care and decrease barriers to the timely start of treatment, Dr. Noel explores the social conditions that contribute to lower cancer treatment utilization and higher mortality rates in marginalized communities, particularly communities of color, and communities within residentially segregated urban and rural neighborhoods. Dr. Noel has a passion for conducting community-based research and has a wealth of experience engaging communities, social scientists, and medical professionals in those partnerships.
