Legacy giving, or planned giving, is a meaningful way to make a gift beyond your current capacity, enabling you to make a significant impact now and far into the future.

Legacy giving has little to do with whether your assets are modest or monumental. It has everything to do with your belief in the importance of LBBC’s mission.

When you choose to include LBBC in your estate plan or take advantage of planned giving tools—such as charitable gift annuities or charitable remainder trusts—you support people affected by breast cancer for years to come, while in many cases adding to your family’s financial security and realizing important tax benefits.

There are many options available to you in planning a gift to LBBC. We encourage you to include family members and financial advisors in customizing your plans, and we welcome your inquiry as a first step.

Qualified Charitable Distributions through your Traditional Individual Retirement Account

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) through a Traditional Individual Retirement Account (IRA) are a wonderful way to make a gift to LBBC while fulfilling your required minimum distribution.

There are six easy steps for individuals 70 ½ or older to set up a QCD:

  1. Inform your IRA Administrator that you are interested in making a QCD.
  2. Make your request in writing to your IRA Administrator.
  3. Specify the dollar amount you would like to donate.
  4. Request the transfer include your contact information as the donor. We cannot supply a tax receipt without this information.
  5. LBBC provides you with a tax receipt for your records.
  6. Report the QCD on your 1040 federal tax return.

If you would like more information about giving to LBBC by QCD or our Legacy Society, please contact Mary Beth Mills, Director, Development, at (855) 807-6386, ext. 127 or mbmills@lbbc.org.

For specific legal, tax, or investment questions, we recommend you consult your financial planner or lawyer.
