Running for a Cause
On Saturday, December 1, 2018, Usama Malik, interim chief financial officer and chief business officer of Immunomedics Inc., will run the 100k Devil Dog Ultra. He will run in honor of those living with breast cancer.
Running a 100k is no easy task. Usama and Humanly, a new patient community, are hoping this race will raise awareness about people who have been impacted by the disease as well as research efforts in the healthcare industry. The team at Humanly have set up a fundraising page with the goal of raising $50,000 for Living Beyond Breast Cancer and METAvivor, two organizations that are dedicated to breast cancer research and advocacy. “We believe that the narrative around cancer must be broadened to better serve patient needs,” said Lauren Wood, head of patient experience and corporate communications at Immunomedics. “The launch of Humanly is the beginning of a portfolio of products, services and initiatives that will offer insight into the daily lives of people living with cancer, and we’re thrilled to be kicking off our fundraising efforts with LBBC and METAvivor.”

Humanly offers a trusted space for people living with cancer to be themselves—to speak and be seen, heard, and understood. It celebrates people's humanity and the nuanced moments that make up their lives. Humanly is the beginning of a new patient paradigm—one that is of the people, by the people, for the people. A paradigm that will humanize cancer, be the catalyst for self-advocacy, and shift the focus from disease to life with disease. Additional information about Humanly will be shared as it launches this week.
