Wisdom. Support. Truth. Hope.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer is a national nonprofit organization that seeks to create a world that understands there is more than one way to have breast cancer. To fulfill our mission of providing trusted information and a community of support, we offer on-demand emotional, practical, and evidence-based content that is meaningful to those newly diagnosed, in treatment, post-treatment, and living with metastatic disease.
For over 30 years, Living Beyond Breast Cancer has imparted wisdom and connection via conferences, events, a peer-to-peer helpline, and more. Today, we remain committed to creating a culture of acceptance—where sharing the diversity of the lived experience of breast cancer fosters self-advocacy and hope. Learn more about our programs and services, and how we center diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Through the programs, services, and support we provide, we live our vision of a world where no one impacted by breast cancer feels uninformed or alone. We pledge to stand beside you, elevating the voices of all people impacted by breast cancer, and to see and share the diversity of all the individuals, families, and communities touched by this disease.
In order to succeed in our mission, we know that using our resources wisely must be a top priority. Living Beyond Breast Cancer is one of the highest ranked breast cancer charities in the United States. For 18 straight years, Living Beyond Breast Cancer has earned a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the highest possible ranking for financial health and accountability. Through rigorous financial management, we earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Guidestar. USA Today recommends us as one of the top breast cancer charities to give to for support services and education. View our financials.
We have been awarded three successive, competitive CDC Cooperative Agreements to serve young women diagnosed with breast cancer. Living Beyond Breast Cancer is also proud to be recognized as an accredited charity by the Better Business Bureau.
We are a valued resource for people whose lives are upended by breast cancer and whose sense of self has been fundamentally altered. Each year over 600,000 people access our online resources, programs, and communities of support.
Leading medical and research experts from NCI teaching hospitals, and community cancer centers review our content, present at our programs, advise us on content, and provide insight to our community with interviews to ensure those we serve receive trusted information.
Starting in 2011, Living Beyond Breast Cancer launched its leadership volunteer programs, becoming one of the first breast cancer organizations to train volunteers with the specific goal of advocating for change by focusing on elevating the voice of the patient experience. To date, we have trained over 500 leadership volunteers.
We are the only nonprofit breast cancer organization in the US that provides a “train the trainer” program for oncology nurses and navigators about the unique issues facing young women diagnosed with breast cancer.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer knows that finding ways to support emotional health is just as important as getting the right cancer treatment.
Collaboration plays a key role in our efforts to fulfill our mission and vision. We are a founding member of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance and our staff and volunteers advise on a variety of patient priorities with organizations such as the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC). We develop programs alongside colleague organizations like the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation and Susan G. Komen. Living Beyond Breast Cancer signed the Tigerlily Diversity and Inclusion Pledge for Women of Color, and worked with Tigerlily and TOUCH: The Black Breast Cancer Alliance to develop a flagship program, Knowledge is power.
