Travel grants

Travel grants are awarded at the below levels as stipends based on distance from conference location. A travel grant stipend aims to help offset some of the costs of attending the conference; however, it most likely will not cover all expenses. Click here to learn more about travel and lodging options for the conference.

  • $325 (USD) for CT, DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA, and VA residents who live more than 60 miles from the conference location
  • $575 (USD) for residents living in all other states in the United States (including Hawaii and Alaska) and Canada
  • Travel grant stipends can be used for any conference-related expenses. Travel grant stipends can be used for conference-related expenses including sleeping rooms at the conference hotel, parking, travel, etc.
  • If you are approved for a travel grant you will also receive an automatic fee waiver for the conference registration fee

Who is eligible for a travel grant?

  • Applicants with a demonstrated financial need, living in the United States or Canada, who otherwise would be unable to participate in the conference.
  • Priority will be given to applicants diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and their caregivers.
  • Applicants must live more than 60 miles from the conference location. If you reside 60 miles or less from the conference location, you may reserve a fee waiver ticket. Learn more about fee waivers below.

Recipient’s responsibility

  • Use the funds to attend the full conference. Sign in and out and show a valid photo ID at the travel grant registration table.
  • Share information you learn at the conference with your local community.
  • If you are using travel grant stipend funds towards lodging, we request that you stay at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing. A small room block has been secured at the hotel at a special reduced rate of $209.00 + 16.25% tax per night. You must make your own reservations. Please reference Living Beyond Breast Cancer to obtain the reduced rate. Click here for online reservations.
  • Find your own roommate, if needed. If you are looking for a roommate, please visit the Events section of our Facebook page (just search “Living Beyond Breast Cancer” and if you haven’t already, “like” us). Once there, join the 2026 Conference on Metastatic Breast Cancer group to connect with other conference attendees and find a roommate.
  • Complete conference evaluation forms and provide a brief testimonial statement that informs LBBC of the impact the conference had on you. By applying for and accepting the travel grant, you agree that testimonials may be used on LBBC’s website or in future marketing materials.

Travel grant process

1. Pay the travel grant application fee

There is a $15 non-refundable travel grant application fee. We have found it necessary to institute this travel grant application fee so that we may continue to assist the greatest number of those in financial need.

2. Submit a travel grant application

Once you pay the fee, you will receive a link to the application in your response email. Your application is not complete until you submit this second form. The fee payment form is NOT the travel grant application.

All information provided in your application must be accurate. Any invalid information will result in the immediate termination of your application or travel grant.

Deadline to submit applications: Sunday, March 22, 2026, at midnight. Note that applications are reviewed as they are received or until funds are depleted, so we encourage you to apply sooner rather than later.

3. Receive your application status notification

You will be notified of the status of your application by email within 10 business days from the date the completed application was received. Please make sure you check your email and spam folders. If you have any questions, please send an email to MBCSupport@LBBC.org.

Do not pay to register for the conference before you hear about the status of your travel grant. Do not reserve a fee waiver ticket. If you are approved for a travel grant, you will receive an automatic registration fee waiver for the conference.

4. Register for the conference

If you are approved, you will need to register for the conference using the link provided in your approval notification email within 5 days of receipt. This link will allow you to register for free.

5. Attend the full conference

All travel grant recipients are required to attend the entire conference from Saturday, April 18, at 9:30 a.m. (ET) through Sunday, April 19, at 12:30 p.m. (ET)

6. Receive your stipend

Stipend checks will be distributed at the end of the conference. No funds will be provided to recipients prior to the end of the conference. Checks will be distributed at 12:45 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, April 19, at the close of the last session of the conference. You will need to show a valid picture ID and sign out in person to receive your travel grant stipend.

No checks will be distributed prior to the closing session on Sunday, April 19, 2026. You must personally pick up your check. Please keep this in mind when you plan your travel schedule.

Cancellations

If you are approved for a travel grant and you decide not to attend the conference, please send an email before the conference date to MBCSupport@LBBC.org. Please notify us as soon as possible so that funds can be released and made available to other applicants. Not doing so may affect your eligibility for future travel grant opportunities with LBBC.
