While undergoing treatment for hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in December 2013, Roberta A. Albany observed a disconnect concerning the outcomes of underrepresented communities. To contribute to the solution, Ms. Albany became an LBBC Young Women's Advocate in September 2015.
Ms. Albany actively collaborates with various advocacy organizations, including The Chrysalis Initiative, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, and Unite for Her, among others. She served as a panelist for the Drug Information Association (DIA) and Physicians' Education Resource, LLC (PER) at the Miami Breast Cancer Conference. Currently, Ms. Albany is a patient advocate (breast committee research advocate) for SWOG Cancer Research Network and a member of the Multi-Regional Clinical Trials Center (MRCT) of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard, serving on the Clinical Research Glossary Work Group.
As the Founder/CEO of Cancer in the Know, Ms. Albany focuses on the impact of disparities in the Black/African American community. She is also a contributing author to "Bruised, Broken & Blessed."
