- Survivorship Series Program Leader, 2023
- Carmichael, California
Kelly graduated from Sacramento City College with an associate’s degree in nursing. Prior to working as a nurse navigator, Kelly worked as a floor nurse in oncology, med-surg telemetry, radiation, and in the emergency room.
In 2012, she graduated from CSUS with a BSN. She transitioned to oncology, cardiac intervention, and neurology case management, which ultimately led her to complete her master’s degree in the field. With her increased understanding of the importance of guiding patients across the continuum of care, Kelly provides patient education around diagnoses and treatment.
In addition to offering emotional support, Kelly advocates for her patients by helping to navigate barriers to care including insurance issues, delays in services, and hurdles with transportation. Kelly also provides financial assistance resources to patients, education on complimentary therapies, nutrition, support groups, yoga, and other resources that optimize positive outcomes. Kelly feels that working as an oncology nurse navigator has been the most rewarding position of her career.
