Highlights
Ogori Kalu, MD, MS, a breast surgical oncologist and breast health specialist, was born and raised in New York. She attended Temple University for her undergraduate degree, pursuing a dual major in biology and Africana studies. She then pursued her education at New York Medical College, earning both a master’s degree and a medical degree in biochemistry. Her general surgery residency was completed at the State University of New York Health Sciences Downstate Medical Center. Subsequently, she ventured to California to undertake a breast surgical oncology fellowship at Stanford University.
Commencing her clinical journey, she served as the medical director of the Women’s Breast Center at Hackensack University Medical Center-Mountainside in Montclair, New Jersey. Following that role, she assumed the position of director of Breast Surgery at Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School-University Hospital, a position she held for five years. Dr. Kalu remains actively engaged in the Greater New York/New Jersey community as a breast surgical oncologist and healthcare consultant.
Dedicated to breast health education and breast cancer treatment in minority communities, her career is marked by numerous publications in medical and surgical journals. She has also been a presenter at both national and international medical conferences, focusing on the subject of breast cancer and healthcare disparities.
