Lashelle D. Scott was diagnosed with Stage III HER2-positive invasive ductal carcinoma with the BRCA gene on February 14, 2021. She has undergone six rounds of chemotherapy and 16 rounds of immunotherapy, as well as a partial mastectomy. She is currently in menopause.
In the capacity of an advocate, Lashelle's responsibilities include recruiting new advocates, attending training sessions, and disseminating messaging. Additionally, she collaborated with a state representative to develop a breast cancer wellness bill (Texas House-HB 4361) for introduction in the 88th legislative session. She is diligently working on launching a podcast in the near future, where she will discuss issues pertinent to breast cancer patients of color and share her own journey, encompassing both positive and challenging aspects. Furthermore, she is in the process of establishing a limited liability corporation, with the goal of delivering speeches at events and distributing literature about breast cancer awareness.
Lashelle also holds positions as a Tigerlily ANGEL advocate and a Susan G. Komen advocate. She resides in Houston, Texas, alongside her 12-year-old Husky named Eythal.
