I hope that my work with LBBC will help lead to improvements in breast cancer patient care, both for broad patient populations through research and policy advocacy and for individual patients through advocacy within my community.
Laura’s primary interests were scientific research advocacy and legislative policy advocacy. Prior to her diagnosis of brain metastases in 2021, she was an assistant professor, with a research focus on nutrition and breast cancer. She hoped that her scientific knowledge would be helpful in her advocacy work. Through her previous career, she had experience with grant writing, grant review, collaborating with doctors, and giving talks to large audiences. Relationships, with her family and friends, brought her the most joy.
