Jenni is planning to get a tattoo of “long story short, I survived” from a Taylor Swift lyric, after her breast cancer treatment.
Jenni Hetzel-Gaynor, 43, is a Washington, D.C., attorney interested in research and scientific advocacy. She was diagnosed with stage IIA HER2-positive, hormone receptor-negative breast cancer in February 2023. She is currently receiving adjuvant treatment with T-DM1 and is enrolled in the CompassHER2 (RD) clinical trial.
Jenni's hobbies include college football (she got to see her beloved Michigan Wolverines win the national championship while she was in treatment), cooking, baking, crafting, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
To me, becoming an advocate means taking the things I'm already good at — my research skills, my understanding of the scientific "stuff," my ability to connect with others — and learning how to use them to create and enact meaningful change.
