Based in Ithaca, New York, he spent many years supporting patients, survivors, and family members through his work at the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes and wrote a widely read column on cancer for The Ithaca Journal. Now retired, Bob focuses on bridging the gap between cancer researchers-in-training at Cornell University and the patient community.

When he’s not advocating, Bob enjoys photographing birds at his feeders — often imagining their conversations. A native of Huntington, West Virginia, he attended Oberlin College and the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health.
