Dr. Harris’s primary research interest is in the use of radiation therapy as part of the multidisciplinary management of breast cancer. He has been involved in developing and improving breast-conserving therapies, in collaboration with radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, medical oncologists, and medical geneticists. His work also includes studies that evaluate therapy after mastectomy to improve survival, and collaborative work with investigators in medical physics to ensure the safest and most effective techniques.

Dr. Harris has been widely published and honored with several awards. In addition to his duties as a clinician, professor and department chair, he is the residency director for the Harvard radiation oncology program and mentors medical students as well as faculty members.
