Cancer Nurse Navigator, The John B. Amos Cancer Center, Piedmont Healthcare
Highlights
- LBBC Medical Advisory Board member since 2024
Mary E. Williams, BNS, RN, CCRC, is a board-certified registered nurse with experience in the operating room, medical surgery, clinical research, and navigation.
Ms. Williams began her nursing career at age 46 as a circulatory surgery nurse. After a year she transferred to a medical surgery floor that managed neurology patients. She found patient care very fulfilling, as it offered a regular opportunity to reflect on what she had done to manage a patient’s care.
At The John B. Amos Cancer Center, Ms. Williams became involved recruiting surgery patients to donate tissue for the purpose of research. She then transitioned to a new role as breast health navigator, which she felt was her true “calling,” as she loves educational opportunities that benefit her patients.
