Highlights
Chandler S. Cortina, MD, MS, FSSO, FACS, is Assistant Professor and Chief of the Surgical Oncology Breast Service at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin. A Louisiana native, he completed his residency at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at Northwestern University.
Dr. Cortina is actively engaged in clinical outcomes research and has authored over 50 manuscripts, including articles in esteemed journals such as The Lancet, JAMA Oncology, JAMA Surgery, and the Annals of Surgical Oncology. His current research focuses on breast cancer risk, screening, and treatment in gender-diverse populations, as well as investigating the impact of gender-affirming care on risk and treatment recommendations. His research is supported by grants from PCORI, the MCW Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin endowment.
Dr. Cortina maintains active involvement in various surgical and oncological societies and holds committee positions in the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Central Surgical Association.
