Marissa is co-founder and CEO of For the Breast of Us based in Atlanta, an online platform for women of color affected by breast cancer and their families. A devoted patient advocate, with years of experience as a medical assistant, she serves as program coordinator at ExtraHop, a cybersecurity company in Seattle.
Marissa was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 at age 35. After participating in Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Young Advocate Program, she was inspired to continue and deepen her involvement with the organization. She serves on LBBC’s Black Breast Cancer Advisory Council. As a board member, Marissa is committed to representing and helping women of color – navigating health care and life after cancer. She hopes to expand LBBC’s impact and reach more people in need of resources and guidance.
