Janine oversaw LBBC's educational programs, collaborating with her colleagues to deliver high-quality and compassionate medical, psychosocial, and practical content. In this role, she contributed to the design of LBBC's core activities, including digital content development, thought leadership, program and service delivery, outreach, and research and evaluation.
She previously served as the organization's director of publications and communications director, managing media relations and marketing.
During her more than 20 years at LBBC, Janine wrote hundreds of articles on the medical, emotional, and practical concerns of people impacted by breast cancer, and she contributed to research on the needs of people with metastatic breast cancer, premenopausal women, and those with triple-negative breast cancer.
In 2023, Janine was elected vice chair of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance. She also represented LBBC on the American Brain Tumor Association's (ABTA) Metastatic Brain Tumor Initiative, and the Precision Medicine Commons led by Lungevity. Previously, she represented LBBC on the outreach committee of the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
I'm inspired each and every day by the resilience and creativity of the members of LBBC's community, who despite the trauma of a cancer diagnosis find ways to cope, contribute, and educate the public about the realities of living with early and metastatic breast cancer.
Janine earned a master's degree in journalism and public affairs from American University and a bachelor's degree from Haverford College. She has worked as an editor at American Forests and The Chronicle of Philanthropy, both based in Washington, DC.
She lives in suburban Philadelphia with her husband and son, two dogs, and cat. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, being in nature, writing, traveling, reading, crafts, listening to rock n' roll, playing word games, and, most of all, making a difference in people's lives.
