Education Manager
Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a nonprofit education and support organization dedicated to empowering all women affected by breast cancer to live as long as possible with the best quality of life, seeks a full-time (40 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends) education manager. LBBC seeks an energetic, creative and committed individual to assist the education director and other staff with the development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs, services and outreach and administrative duties. This position supervises one position, has occasional travel and reports to the education director. Primary responsibilities include:
Education Program Development and Administration
- Manage day-to-day operations of specific educational programs, services and outreach
- Research, develop and implement new programs for women with advanced (metastatic) breast cancer
- Work with communications department to write and update educational materials, including newsletter and website articles, brochures and collateral materials
- Develop new program evaluation tools; perform ongoing analysis of evaluation data; write evaluation reports and make recommendations for program improvements
- Copyedit and/or review website stories; assign medical reviewers
- Edit education program transcripts; divide content and post to website
- Review public relations materials for program publicity
- Supervise education and outreach coordinator and oversee her ongoing professional development
Professional Outreach
- Represent LBBC at regional and national conferences, meetings and events
- Establish new and maintain current relationships within the oncology community to increase greater awareness of LBBC at the regional and national levels
Resource Development and Distribution and Presentations
- With Education Director, conduct a needs assessment and create a plan for future special populations publication development
- With Education and Communications Directors, develop and implement a plan for future resource development, including developing additional bilingual materials to serve as a companion to We Celebrate Tomorrow
- Ensure that education department staff are identifying individuals, organizations and venues where LBBC publications, trainings and oral and poster presentations should be pursued
- Manage distribution plan for culturally specific educational publications and materials
- Oversee consultant(s) conducting health provider trainings
General Administration and Management
- Manage a Medical Advisory Board
- Review and edit grant proposals and reports to funders; oversee staff preparation of monthly program reports
- Provide information as needed in such areas as program marketing, program management and evaluation, to facilitate the organizational vision and strategic goals
- Conduct ongoing assessments of education programs and services; make recommendations for program expansion or enhancements as needed
- Develop a process for ongoing communications with key collaborators and partners
- With the Education Director, manage specialized board ad hoc committees; schedule meetings; maintain correspondence and follow up as needed
- Assist with development of annual department plan and budget; participate in short and long-term planning processes for the organization
- Attend and assist with education, volunteer and fundraising events as needed
Serious candidates will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Excellent written, organizational and communication skills
- Experience in writing; medical writing preferred
- Experience in program planning and management
- Experience and strong interest in women's health issues, particularly breast cancer
- Sense of humor and ability to juggle multiple tasks
- Excellent computer skills
Education requirements:
- College degree required; masters preferred in public health, health education, nursing, social work or related field
