Living Beyond Breast Cancer's March teleconference focused on Hot and Bothered: Managing Treatment-Related Menopausal Symptoms. Speaker Diane Thompson, MD, of The Queen’s Medical Center, described common menopausal symptoms related to breast cancer treatment and offered guidance for how to manage each of them. Some of the side effects that were discussed include hot flashes, vaginal dryness, insomnia and mood swings. Dr. Thompson also explained how your healthcare team can help ease these side effects in order to maximize your quality of life.
About Our Speaker
Dr. Diane Thompson is a psychiatric oncologist and women’s health specialist. She is the director of the cancer center program at Queen’s Medical Center (QMC), the medical director for the QMC Women’s Health Center, a clinical associate professor of psychiatry and a clinical associate professor of geriatrics at the University of Hawaii.
Dr. Thompson is a menopause practitioner and a member of the North American Menopause Society. She is especially interested in the relationship between the mind and physical fitness. She also is a certified hypnotherapist.
